About St Johns Physiotherapy
St Johns Physiotherapy is based in Taunton in Somerset
St Johns Physiotherapy Practice was established in 2002 by partners Dominic and Alison Jones and has grown into a thriving practice offering assessment, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.
You do not need a referral from your doctor for an appointment but we will liaise with them following discussion with you the patient if this is needed.
Every interaction with you is fully confidential and we will endeavour to discuss with you in full detail every step of the way. If we cannot help you we should be able to direct you to someone who can.
We as a practice offer a range of treatments including mobilisation and manipulation, acupuncture for pain relief, myofascial release (MFR), soft tissue massage and specific, tailored exercise programmes.
Exercises
If you have been to physio before you may already be aware of how important home exercises are to help you restore yourself to full and pain free function.
At St Johns you will be under the guidance of an experienced physiotherapist who will more often than not give you an exercise programme tailored to your specific needs whether this is to help you return to your marathon training or to get through the office day without that headache or debilitating low back and neck pain or to help you return to a more normal sleep pattern.
The planned exercise programme will be progressed gradually at each session depending on you progress. A typical exercise regime will feature specific strengthening exercises to redress muscle imbalances and specific stretching exercises to reduce tension and restriction in tight structures within the body. Tight musculoskeletal structures and weak or overactive muscles will lead to postural malalignment of the body which over time will so often cause pain. Postural advice and education are a key part of this process.
Who we can help
At St Johns Physiotherapy we treat children with growing pains, traumatic injuries and post operative conditions. We treat adults of all ages and with a whole range of musculoskeletal conditions and typically these include low back and neck pain, headache, post operative dysfunction, sports injuries, arthritis, tendon problems, strain and sprains but anything to do with muscles or bones we should be able to help.
Our Aim
Our aim is to help you return to your normal activities whether you are an elite athlete in training, need to be able to work without pain or just need to go about your daily routine with greater ease and comfort. We will work with you to help you restore mobility and strength and therefore reduce pain and to advise you on how to minimise the risk of your symptoms returning.
