What to expect
At St Johns Physiotherapy you can expect a friendly and professional service from your first contact with our receptionist right through treatment until you have made a full recovery. Here’s what to expect from us:
1. Consultation
When you contact St Johns Physiotherapy Practice, our receptionist will be able to offer you an initial consultation with one of our physiotherapists Alison or Dominic.
During this 45-minute appointment, we will assess your injury or condition. This involves listening carefully to your history and exploring further through specific questioning to ascertain the nature of your condition.
2. Physical assessment
We will then physically assess the area involved, for example, the knee joint, and look at various measurements like movement, pain levels, strength, balance and so on which will lead to a diagnosis.
3. Treatment plan
From this we will discuss with you fully a suitable treatment plan and explain the exercises you will need to work on at home if agreed, treatment will begin immediately and be built upon on your next visit.
There will be every opportunity for you to discuss and ask any questions you may have at any time.
You may prefer a female physiotherapist so please mention this to our receptionist when you make your appointment. You do not require a referral from your GP or consultant, but we do liaise and work closely alongside them. If at any time we feel that physiotherapy is not appropriate for your particular condition then we will discuss this with you and if you wish, refer you to an appropriate healthcare professional
We aim to offer a physiotherapy appointment within 48 hours of you speaking to our receptionist.
There is a physiotherapist available between Monday and Friday 8 am to 5 pm.
